Spaces and Bookings

Study Rooms

Located on the second floor of the Bob Harkins Branch, the library’s two study rooms may be booked for individuals or groups of up to 6 people. Bookings can be made up to three weeks in advance, for a maximum of two hours per day.

Use the online booking form to select your booking’s length of time, which study room you prefer (optional), and what day and time you would like to book for. If you select a day on the calendar and do not see a specific time listed, that time has been booked by another patron and is currently unavailable. After submitting the form, you will receive a confirmation email approving your booking.

If you do not occupy your booked study room within 15 minutes of the start time, the room booking will be cancelled and library staff may, at their discretion, allow other patrons to use the room.

Please be considerate of those patrons who may be waiting to use a study room after your two hours have elapsed. Study rooms must be vacated 15 minutes prior to library closing time.

Library tours are available for groups of all types and ages.

Bring your class or group to the library and we'll show them what it's all about! Our Community Engagement staff will outline the features of our library, how it works, highlight age-appropriate materials, share some stories, and help your students/group members get library cards, too!

Please fill out the Tour Request Form and our staff will get back to you soon to arrange your tour!

If you have questions about library tours, you may contact the Youth Community Engagement Librarian by filling in the contact form or calling 250-563-9251 ext. 105.

Homework Help

PGPL is thrilled to announce the return of our Homework Help tutoring program for the 2025-2026 school year!

The PGPL Homework Help tutors work with small groups of students in grades 3-12 to build skills in English, Math and Sciences. Students will be paired with an experienced tutor for their weekly one-hour session. Sessions are booked on a first come, first served basis. Submit a registration request online using the homework help booking form or call 250-563-9251 ext. 100.

Due to the high demand of the program, submitting a request form does not guarantee a position in the Homework Help program. The Homework Help program has been a cornerstone of our community since 2015, offering a profound impact on many young lives. It is with great excitement and thankfulness that we can bring back this program once more in-person for those who need extra supports in their learning and are wanting to build their academic confidence and skills in a safe and welcoming space.

The Knowledge Garden is a reading garden and performance space located between the Bob Harkins Branch and the Prince George Civic Centre, adjacent to Patricia Boulevard. The garden features benches, a picnic site, a Children’s Garden as well as a small amphitheatre where we conduct outdoor programs like storytimes and can host musicians and public speakers.

Efforts have been made to create a green space using regionally domestic plants, trees and flowers, including species that have been indicated for traditional use by local First Nations. The garden space has WiFi access.

The Knowledge Garden is entirely supported by donations, and the generous support from public and corporate donors has made it possible to get this project underway.

The garden is open seasonally, as weather permits, from approximately May - October, from 10:15am Monday through Saturday, and closes approximately 30 minutes before the library closes.
