Master Minds: How do Patients Experience the Daily Work of Nurses?

The Library is currently in Phase 4 of its Reopening Plan. Due to COVID-19, the Bob Harkins Branch (downtown) is open for limited service Monday-Friday 10 am-6 pm, Saturday 10 am-4 pm. The Nechako Branch (Hart) is open Monday-Friday 10 am-6pm.

The British Columbian health care system has been shifting towards more care being given in the home and community setting, including care that would have previously needed to be given in a hospital. More patients are being referred for home care services, including patients with more complicated health care needs. This has led to the workload of home care nurses becoming busier. As changes happen at the systemic (or organizational) level in health care, this also changes the way daily work is done by home care nurses. We asked patients to participate in interviews to speak about their experiences receiving home care nursing services. We were interested to hear patient perspectives on home care nursing work, and whether the ways home care nurses do their work has an impact on the relationships between nurses and patients.
