The Prince George Public Library is looking for a person with human resource and administrative assistant experience for a temporary full-time appointment. This is an opportunity for an HR professional to gain valuable experience working in a collaborative environment at a community focused organization.
The HR & Administrative Assistant fulfills a key role in the day-to-day operation of human resources, benefits administration, and support to the Library Director. The incumbent also works collaboratively with other members of the Management Team to assist with onboarding, orientation, training, assisting in confidential employee matters and development of new hires. The duties include auditing internal processes, reviewing employee files for accuracy, conducting research and compiling and presenting findings to the Management Team and for the daily tasks necessary to ensure human resources and benefit compliance within a unionized environment.
The successful candidate will have:
• Up to two years of education in office administration, business administration, human resources (preferred)
• Two (2) years of recent related experience in HR, preferably in a unionized and non-profit environment.
• Recent related experience in an administrative support role.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal relationship communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft office, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), payroll systems
• Ability to pass and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• Class 5 driver’s license
This position is a full-time six-month leave replacement position at 37.5 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $29.87 plus extended benefits.
