Louise Hanson
Louise has always been a dedicated library supporter and patron. She grew up in North Vancouver, moved to Prince George in the early 1980s, and then settled in Vanderhoof in 1988. Louise quickly became involved at the Vanderhoof Public Library, volunteering at the circulation desk and helping with shelf reading. Once her children reached school age, she joined the library board as a trustee, serving for seven years, six of those as board chair. Through advocacy and determination, Louise and the board, supported by the municipality, oversaw the much-needed renovation and relocation of the library. After her service on the library board, Louise was elected as a municipal councillor in Vanderhoof and served in that role for four years.
In 2012, Louise relocated back to Prince George to accept a position as Business Manger with BC Timber Sales. Following her retirement in 2020, Louise sought opportunities to continue supporting libraries. When the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George announced a new trustee position on the Prince George Public Library board, she applied and was honoured to accept the appointment.
Louise is eager to serve the patrons of the PGPL and to represent both the Regional District and the people of Prince George, supporting this vital resource within our community.
