Master Minds: Seen and Not Heard

Featuring master's research by Marina Stuparyk, this presentation will include a brief history of the Spanish Inquisition and explore the trial of Maria de Cazalla. Maria preached publicly about sex and motherhood and was involved with a group called the Alumbrados. Stuparyk will explore the complex situation of women in the male-dominated worlds of sixteenth-century Spain and the Roman Catholic Church.

Master Minds: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of Fairy Tales

Featuring master's research by Alauna Brown, this presentation will include a storytelling of a sixteenth century fairytale about two girls and how people in the past expected girls to look and behave. A display of paintings by Brown will showcase how these expectations changed in different versions of the story.
